Huawei Launches CaaS 2.0 to Drive Network Communications
Capability Exposure
[Shanghai, China, September 2, 2016] Today marks the launch
of Huawei’s Communication as a Service 2.0 (CaaS 2.0) solution. CaaS 2.0 introduces
five capabilities (real-time voice, real-time video, network QoS, location
information, and third-party application integration) all based on a unified
platform. With CaaS 2.0, Huawei strives to build an ecosystem that fosters
cooperation between over 1500 industry partners, integrates carrier
capabilities into every industry through application program interfaces, and
improves people’s livelihoods.
Introduces five
capabilities to improve user
experience and drive service innovation.
- Real-time voice: Original CaaS 1.0 APIs have now evolved into scenario- and industry-specific APIs based on several years of commercial development. These APIs can be easily integrated into partner applications.
- Real-time video: Communication is rapidly entering the video era as technologies such as VoLTE, SDK, and WebRTC, now conform to the "three screens (mobile/TV/computer) + one camera" format. The video development kit launched by Huawei enables in-depth integration of the carrier's HD low-latency, real-time video into markets such as distant education, telemedicine, and Internet financing. This delivers a better all-round service experience for customers.
- Network QoS: Helps monitor the quality of the network that runs OTT applications to guarantee the required bandwidth and latency, delivering an optimal user experience.
- Location information: Verticals can develop innovative services based on location information, such as indoor precise marketing and secure mobile payment.
- Third-party application integration: Third-party applications can be integrated quickly to achieve hour-level service rollout. Differentiated optimization policies can be customized through smart service chaining. Third-party applications can be managed in a unified manner to achieve automatic management, including capacity expansion/reduction and redundancy.
Provides three
powerful supports to aggregate industry partners and boost the industry
ecosystem.
- Platform support: Huawei provides comprehensive platform support to developers and partners, including an easy-to-use development tool kit, remote lab for commissioning and verification, and expert support and guidance.
- Business incubation: Huawei collaborates with carriers to help partners promote their businesses and grow their user base through O2O platforms — app stores, media publication, and exhibitions and conferences. The capability exposure platform provided by the carrier helps partners deliver a better user experience, improve user stickiness, and attract more customers.
- Aggregation ecosystem: Huawei collaborates with partners to establish the Family Real-Time Video Industry Alliance and provide service pre-integration with chip and smart hardware vendors. These measures will break down communication barriers, boost more innovative applications, and forge deep partnerships in industry development and innovation. Huawei also collaborates with carriers, device vendors, and vertical industry partners to establish the MBB Open-Interconnect Alliance, facilitating the exchange of ideas, joint development of new technologies, and sharing of success stories. All of these initiatives spur on cross-industry innovation.
Huawei has already reaped the benefits from cooperating with
the world's leading tier-1 carriers to innovate services and monetize the pipe
through communication capability exposure. In the real-time voice field, Huawei
has cooperated with 1500+ partners and helped 500 enterprises in 18 industries
achieve a total traffic of more than 100 million minutes on average each month.
Huawei has similarly ignited the real-time video industry with a market value
of 100 billion USD dollars, partnering with 50+ mainstream home TV vendors.
Huawei has built an OTT application acceleration platform, providing an
application acceleration service for 10+ partners, serving a 13-million user
base, and triggering more than 3 million API invocations. With CaaS 2.0, Huawei
will continue to collaborate with industry partners and drive cross-industry
service improvement and business innovation.
HUAWEI CONNECT 2016 was held from August 31-September 2 in
Shanghai at the Shanghai Expo Centre, Mercedes-Benz Arena, and Shanghai World
Expo Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC). It was attended by over 15,000
industry leaders who discussed how to build a Better Connected World, and how
to promote digital transformation in industries.
