Huawei OceanConnect IoT Platform Makes Waves in West Europe

[Paris, France, October 22, 2016] The first Huawei eco-Connect Europe was held on October 20 and October 21 in Palais Brongniart, Paris. More than 1,000 business and political leaders, partners, analysts, and operators gathered together to share the latest cutting-edge technologies and service innovation topics and discuss the ICT industry ecosystem and harmonious business environment in Europe. Internet of Things (IoT), as one of the most popular topics, plays an important role in the conference.

OceanConnect Ecosystem Enables Industry Digitization

During the OceanConnect track, Mr. Wang Songtao, Vice President of the Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, shared Huawei's vision of building an OceanConnect ecosystem with partners in his opening speech. He stated that: "Huawei OceanConnect is an open ecosystem built on the basis of IoT, cloud computing, and Big Data technologies. Huawei hopes that more terminal and network application (NA) partners will join the OceanConnect IoT platform to provide optimal experience for users and build a better fully-connected era."

Mr. Liu Xin, Director of the Huawei IoT Platform Industry Cooperation Dept., also explained the OceanConnect ecosystem. He said, "With the Huawei IoT connection management platform as its core, the OceanConnect ecosystem provides abundant ecosystem APIs and serial Agent software to realize seamless connection between upstream and downstream products. The platform adapts to various network environments and protocol types and supports quick access of various intelligent terminals, which effectively reduces partners' development costs."

Mr. Rouzbeh Farhoumand, Executive Director of the OSGi, gave a keynote speech "Standards, a Vital Component for a Successful IoT Ecosystem". In his speech, he said, "The LPWA market growth has increased from 25% to 35%. The IoT market will embrace bursting development. As the leaders of IoT standard organizations, oneM2M and OSGi emphasize that a successful IoT ecosystem facilitates the development of the entire industry and that Huawei plays a very positive role in the ecosystem creation." In addition, Mr. Mitchell Klein, Executive Director at Z-Wave Alliance (a global open standards, nonprofit organization), shared the latest terminal access standard technology in the industry, made a brief introduction to the development of the Z-Wave Alliance, and also welcomed Huawei to join the Z-Wave Alliance. He stated that: "IoT is changing the way to interact with surrounding devices in our daily life. To fully promote such transformation, our Z-Wave Alliance will propose a more open and reliable access protocol. So we really hope that Huawei will help us promote the entire process."

Mr. George Yianni, Head of Technology, Home Systems at Philips Lighting, expressed that: “The Huawei OceanConnect platform ensures seamless interoperability with our Philips Hue connected lighting system and offers more ways of using light in the home.”

Head of Sales Hanna Stachowiak and Lukas Tobis from Fibaro Group in Poland used Q&A mode to describe the panorama of the future digital home, where the OceanConnect enables rich applications to realize perfect combination of home and dream.

Solution Manager of Bosch Mr. Armel Mejane introduced Bosch IoT Suite to show the ability of Bocsh have done in IoT field, and also, he stated that Bosch and Huawei will leverage their respective advantages to jointly drive IoT development.

In the end, Mr. David Buhan, Senior VP Mobile Subscriber Services, Platform & Services, Gemalto, raised the topic of IoT security. He stated that: "Gemalto is committed to providing customers with end-to-end encryption solutions. We aim to improve the security to a new height through our cooperation with Huawei OceanConnect."
