IoT: Huawei OceanConnect Works with Partners to Build a Better Connected World

[Shanghai, September 1, 2016] As a key technology that drives the digitization of the entire industry, IoT was a hot topic at HUAWEI CONNECT 2016. The OceanConnect IoT platform ecosystem, was officially launched during the media roundtable held on 1st, Sep.

Ma Haixu, President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Lin

Ma Haixu, President of Huawei’s Cloud Core Network Product Line, announced that OceanConnect provides more than 170 open application programming interfaces (APIs) and serial Agents. These features can accelerate the release of an application, simplify terminal access, ensure network connection, and implement seamless connection between the products of both upstream and downstream partners. Mr. Ma also pointed out that OceanConnect provides a one-stop service for partners, providing technical support, marketing support, and commercial cooperation. In-depth analysis provided by Jiang Tao, Chief Product Management Expert for Huawei’s Core Network Product Line, revealed that:
  • Many partners currently focus solely on IoT device production.
  • Device communication is hindered by technology bottlenecks.
  • Network access cost is high.
  • Time to market (TTM) for new services is long.
He and Zhang Xiwei, Vice President of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line concluded by answering questions related to partners’ primary concerns, technology access and application integration.

The development of IoT, cloud computing, and Big Data, is attracting more and more enterprises and entrepreneurs into the IoT industry. Despite the rapid development of IoT services, these new entrants are met with various challenges, such as complex network connections, difficult integration caused by too many terminal and sensor vendors, and long time-to-market for new services. OceanConnect is designed to help tackle these challenges.

To date, Huawei OceanConnect has integrated more than 200 terminals and sensors and cooperated with over 80 partners in the fields of Internet of Vehicles (IoV), Smart Home, public utilities, and oil/gas & energy. This has led to notable commercial success. For example, in the field of Smart Home, Huawei partners with AenoLabs to work out a competitive Smart Home solution, helping the world-leading carrier Telefonica expand the Latin American Smart Home market. In IoV, Huawei partners with FAW Qiming Information Technology Co., Ltd. to provide vehicle management and car sharing solutions.

Huawei is looking to work with different enterprises to build a better connected world.
